1871 Philadelphia Mint, Red Brown

All two-cent pieces were struck at the "mother" mint in Philadelphia, but didn't display the mint mark. Because Philadelphia was the main mint, 19th and many 20th-century coins didn't carry the "P" mint mark. It was not added until 1979-80. With only 721,250 struck – a fraction compared to today's mintage – this red-brown 1871 two-cent piece is a must for your collection.
