1787 Brasher Doubloon Challenge Coin
Hold one of the most famous examples of early American coinage, with this challenge coin depicting a 1787 gold doubloon design! One side displays the New York coat of arms, while the other shows an eagle. Created by New York goldsmith Ephraim Brasher – a personal friend of George Washington – only 6 examples are known featuring the designer’s “EB” counter-stamp on the eagle’s left wing. In January of 2021, an example sold at auction for a record-setting $9.36 million!
