• 1943 Lincoln Steel Cent – all 1943 cents were struck in zinc-coated steel at the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints to save copper for the war effort
• 1944 Belgium Steel 2 Francs – struck at the main Philadelphia Mint on the same zinc-coated steel planchets used for the 1943 steel cents in preparation for the Allied liberation of Belgium
