1942-1946 Jefferson Nickel WWII Transition Set with Folder
This historic 7-coin set recalls the dramatic WWII transition from regular Jefferson nickels to "silver wartime nickels" and then back to standard issues. The special WWII coins, struck in a 35% silver alloy, saved nickel for armor plating and other military production. These coins were distinguished by extra-large mint marks above Monticello on the reverse side, including the first Philadelphia "P" mint marks ever used.
Your set will include the last traditional Jefferson nickels before the change – struck in early 1942 at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. You'll also get the first"silver nickels" – produced in late 1942 at Philadelphia and San Francisco. And you'll receive the first regular Jefferson nickels following the war – struck at all three mints in 1946. Get this affordable WWII-era transition set with a FREE custom display folder!
