The 1900-S Morgan dollar led off the San Francisco Mint`s silver dollar production of the 20th century. This issue was struck at the venerable 2nd San Francisco Mint facility - nicknamed "the Granite Lady" - one of very few buildings to withstand the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire. Mintage of the 1900-S silver dollar was just over 3.5 million, and most have been lost or melted down over the years. The 1900-S remains very popular in all grades!
