Bearing the popular "S" mint mark of the San Francisco Mint, the 1898-S Morgan silver dollar is a precious remembrance of America's largest western city during the latter 1800s. While this handsome "silver cartwheel" was being struck, Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders charged up San Juan Hill in Puerto Rico. A month later, the Spanish-American War ended with Spain ceding Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Guam to the United States.
