Meet Our Leadership Team
Maynard Sundman (1915-2009)
Founder
Maynard Sundman turned his passion for collecting into a successful mail-order business with a novel approach to advertising. Instead of hobby publications, he focused on comic books, Sunday newspaper supplements and general-interest magazines. In the booming post-WWII consumer era, his strategy worked. Under his leadership, company growth necessitated moves to ever larger locations. Today, Littleton Coin Company occupies a 20-acre campus and generates an estimated $50 million annually.
David M. Sundman
Chairman
David grew up in the coin, currency and stamp collectibles business started in 1945 by his parents, Maynard and Fannie Sundman. He earned a history degree from Gettysburg (PA) College and joined the company in 1972, succeeding his father as president in 1985. Since 2020, David has held the position of chairman after Littleton Coin transitioned to an employee-owned company.
David is regarded as an authority on ancient coins and national bank notes. With acclaimed numismatist Q. David Bowers, he co-authored and published 100 Greatest American Currency Notes: The Stories Behind the Most Colonial, Confederate, Federal, Obsolete, and Private American Notes.
