This 2,300-year-old silver Drachm was issued under Philip III, among the last rulers of the house of Alexander the Great. After Alexander's death in 323 B.C., the army chose his half-brother Arrhidaeus (later renamed Philip III) to be king, in name only. In 317 B.C., Philip's step-mother, Olympias, had him murdered so Alexander's young son could be sole ruler. Philip's reign lasted only 6 years.
