For over a century from 1809 to 1917, Finland was a Grand Duchy within the Russian Empire – issuing coins with the Romanov crown above an imperial double eagle holding a scepter and orb. Then came the Russian Revolution in 1917, when Russia’s last tzar, Nicholas II, abdicated and was later executed with his family. After more than 3 centuries, the oppressive Romanov dynasty came to an end...

You can recall those historic events with this 2-coin set of Finland 50 Penniä pieces, struck in 75% fine silver. The 1914-1917 coin bears the obligatory Russian royal crown above the coat of arms. The second coin, struck only in late 1917, omits the crown – graphically representing the ousting of the last Russian tzar!

With the Romanov dynasty over, the coat of arms was removed from all Finnish coins. The “crowned” 50 Penniäs were never struck again – and the “uncrowned” 50 Penniäs became one-year-only issues. Get both coins in exceptionally nice condition with this historical 2-coin set. But supplies are limited – order these coins today!
