1941 Lebanon Brass 1 Piastre

No Date (1941) Lebanon Brass 1 Piastre

Before World War II, France was a world leader, laying claim to vast territory around the globe. Among the lands under their control was Lebanon. In 1924, France began to strike coins for the Middle Eastern nation. But with Nazi invasion of France, the Paris Mint could no longer supply the currency. So for the first time in hundreds of years, Lebanon issued its own coins, including these brass 1 Piastres. Known as emergency coins, these 1-year-only issues were struck in 1941. Each features French & Arabic inscriptions, yet no date. Amazingly, they have survived in beautiful Uncirculated condition. A dynamic addition to your collection, at an affordable price!
