A.D. 198-209 Geta as Caesar Silver Denarius

A.D. 198-209 Geta as Caesar Silver Denarius

Born in 189, Geta was the younger son of Emperor Septimius Severus. In 198, he received the title of Caesar when his older brother Caracalla was promoted to Augustus. Geta took part in his father's expedition to Britain, and in 209 was named Augustus, as it was his father's wish that his sons co-rule. After Severus died in 211, Caracalla's cruel, jealous nature would not permit sharing of the throne. He had Geta, along with thousands of his supporters, murdered the same year.
