A.D. 253-268 Salonina Bronze Antoninianus

Cornelia Salonina Chrysogone is thought to have been from Bithynia, Greece. She became Augusta when her husband Gallienus was appointed to co-rule with his father, Valerian. Salonina was also given the title Mater Castrorum, meaning mother of the army. Most historians agree that Salonina was intelligent, courageous, and a patron of the arts. Salonina was murdered in A.D. 268, along with her husband.
