1934 $1 Silver Certificate, "Funnyback"

Once redeemable for silver on demand! The Silver Act of 1963 ended traditional silver currency and most of these obsolete notes were redeemed and destroyed. This second small-size Silver Certificate design features a classic portrait of George Washington on the face. The ornamental one and scrollwork engraved on the back give these notes their nickname, "Funnyback." With blue seal and serial numbers. Julian-Morgenthau signatures. Issued 1934-1945.
