1971 Guinea 50 & 100 Sylis Bank Note Set

1971 Guinea 50 & 100 Sylis Bank Note Set

Add world interest to your collection with these Uncirculated first series 50 and 100 Sylis notes from Guinea – known as the “Switzerland of Africa” for its lofty scenic mountains and fertile high plateaus. This country’s beautiful highland region is the source of several prominent African rivers including the Niger, the Gambia and the Senegal.

Issued in 1971, the green 50 Sylis note depicts Alpha Yaya Maudo, a 19th century ruler of the Labé province of Guinea, while the back features the Kinkon hydroelectric plant. The purple 100 Sylis note, also issued in 1971, depicts Ahmed Sékou Touré – first president of Guinea following its independence from France in 1958. These notes were replaced in 1985 by currency based on the Guinean Franc. Add this set of obsolete African notes to your collection today.
