1981 Nepal Silver 100 Rupee, Uncirculated

Only 18,000 of these high-denomination 100 Rupee silver coins were struck by Nepal in 1981 – to celebrate the first World Food Day sponsored by the UN’s Food and Agricultural Organization. The reverse of the 50% silver coin depicts a farmer working a field, the World Food Day logo and nepal. The obverse bears a traditional design with Nepali inscriptions.

Nepal, a landlocked republic between India and China, is home to eight of the world’s ten highest peaks – including legendary Mount Everest along the border between Nepal and Tibet. Thanks to an advanced system of high-country terrace farming, over 75% of the Nepalese workforce is employed in agriculture. Highlight your collection with this limited-issue Uncirculated silver coin from the intriguing Himalayan region known as the “roof of the world.”
