| 1935D Wide and Narrow Margin $1 Silver Certificate Set, Choice Crisp Uncirculated |

|
Description: |
Paper money collectors are always looking for distinctive notes, so we’re pleased to offer these unusual Wide and Narrow Margin Series 1935D Silver Certificates, with the wider and thinner designs visible in the area below ONE DOLLAR.
Although these bear the Series 1935 date, they were actually printed in 1949. At that time, a new plate for the $1 back was prepared. Surprisingly, on the back of Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) record card #16421 were the words:
"The engraved work size of this die has been reduced to approximate the size of the other currency note backs. In making this reduction a small portion of the top and bottom borders was erased." As per Mr. McLeod 6/2/49
The BEP worker was stating that the design area for the notes was reduced, creating the wide and narrow margins on the backs – easily identified by the size of the green area below the words ONE DOLLAR. Since paper money has become so popular, these unusual notes are sought after in both versions. But we have only a limited supply of Wide and Narrow Margin sets available, so don’t delay.
