| 1771 North Carolina 30 Shilling Debenture Bill, Circulated/Repaired |

Description: |
The colonists clearly wanted independence. Hefty taxes on products fueled their resentment. Adding to this ire were the ever-present British troops. Finally, their anger exploded, leading to the Boston Tea Party and the American Revolution. The year 1771 was the time of our nation's beginning - and the time of these historic, hand-signed bills. To combat fraud, North Carolina recalled all existing currency, and with the Act of 1771, authorized £60,000 in debenture bills as a replacement. Each bill offered here was individually hand signed by Richard Caswell, the state's first governor, and member of the Continental Congress. Now you can add these unusual 30 Shilling or 2 Pound bills to your collection. Due to age and use, many of them have minor tears that have been repaired. Makes an excellent addition to any paper money collection.
