| 1858-O Liberty Seated Half Dollar |

Description: |
The 1858-O Liberty Seated half dollar was struck in 90% fine silver at the New Orleans Mint just a few short years before the Civil War. This Gulf Coast mint would soon become part of a remarkable episode in U.S. coinage history, serving three different masters during the year of 1861. Starting that year as a bonafide U.S. Mint, it was taken over by the state of Louisiana following secession, and later in the same year the mint was taken over by the Confederacy.
