"The BBB's Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics" recognizes American businesses that maintain a solid commitment to ethical business practices...
MANCHESTER, NH. On May 8, 2012, at a ceremony held at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester, Littleton Coin Company was recognized as a finalist for the NH Better Business Bureau's Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. The retail firm, with approximately 300 employees in Littleton, NH., was one of only three finalists in the large company category. Littleton Coin was noted for its commitment to trust and ethics with its customers, community and employees.
At the event, John Hennessey, Littleton Coin's Vice President of Marketing, expressed "how proud" he was that Littleton "was selected among so many fine NH businesses". The company's mission, since its inception in 1945 from the family's kitchen table, has been to establish a relationship with its customers based on trust and ethics. Littleton's famous Coins-on-Approval Service, in which collectors receive coins without having to pay for them in advance, gives customers a risk-free way to view coins in their own home before deciding whether to add them to their collection.
The mission of the Better Business Bureau is to promote and foster the highest ethical relationships between businesses and the public through voluntary self-regulation, consumer and business education and service excellence. To this end, the Council of Better Business Bureaus established an annual awards program to gain public recognition for American businesses that maintain a solid commitment to conducting their business practices in an ethical manner. Each year, American companies throughout the nation are selected through a competition to receive the Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. While the award recognizes outstanding American businesses, it also promotes a fair and honorable marketplace for all Americans.
