Collectible Pollyanna Coin
spreads cheer & gladness!
June 13, 2013 – Littleton, NH – This summer, Littleton Coin was pleased to partner with Pollyanna of Littleton New Hampshire, Inc. to help create a unique collectible honoring the centennial celebration of author Eleanor H. Porter's inspirational character, Pollyanna.
Author Eleanor Hodgman Porter (1868-1920) was born and lived in Littleton, New Hampshire. In 1913 she created Pollyanna, the cheerful, world-famous character whose very name inspired thoughts of gladness and optimism. In that same year, Pollyanna was published and became a best seller. Its main character's philosophy of living "gladly" spread throughout the world.
In the 100 years since its first publication, the novel and its beloved character Pollyanna have become synonymous with contagious optimism and a bright outlook. This enthusiastic spirit is no more apparent than here in Porter's hometown of Littleton. In honor of the centennial celebration, Pollyanna of Littleton introduced four original Pollyanna coins to the public – two quarter-sized and two dollar-sized coins. The coins are enhanced with a nostalgic image of the author and her Pollyanna character as well as the BE GLAD symbol. Each is placed in a custom Showpak® for safe keeping.
The coins were given out to attendees of the official Pollyanna Centennial event. For more information about Pollyanna or Littleton visit www.golittleton.com/pollyanna.php.
