The 2001 Quality Employee of the Year Award was presented to Mary Knapp at Littleton Coin Company’s Annual Awards Breakfast on January 23rd. Mike Morelli, Chief Operating Officer, presented the award. He made note, especially for newer employees, of what this award is all about: “We wanted a more visible way to recognize employees who have shown how much they care about the quality of work they do.”
The award goes to individuals who have shown meticulous attention to quality in job performance. Department-level awards are made each spring and fall, and the Quality Employee of the Year and Distinguished Quality Achievement recipients are selected each December.
Mary, who recently transferred to the Marketing department, was praised by Mike Morelli for her outstanding achievement in the Inventory and Assembly departments. “From the start, Mary clearly identified herself as a quality-conscious employee. She frequently recommends ideas to improve processes, quality, production and service to our customers. Mary sets very high standards for herself, as well as for her trainees as part of their development.”
The Distinguished Quality Achievement Awards for 2001 were presented to Fonda Chase in the Coin Buying department, and Jamie Fleck in the Shipping and Receiving department. Both employees have shown outstanding attention to quality in their areas of work.
Said Mike Morelli in presenting Fonda with her award, “Fonda has consistently demonstrated her willingness to do whatever it takes to deliver superb quality products and services to our customers. She has a strong desire to get things done accurately and efficiently for all of our customers.”
In praise of Jamie Fleck he stated, “The most obvious example of her dedication to quality is the way she handles the job in Dave MacKay’s absence. She doesn’t hesitate to ‘take the bull by the horns’ and work extremely hard to do whatever is necessary to get the job done in a very high-quality manner.”
Annual Service Awards for 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service were also presented. Receiving recognition for thirty years of service was Judy Hight; for twenty-five years, Butch Caswell and Peg Ryan; for twenty years, Ed Hennessey; for fifteen years, Shirley Smith, Cindy LaFlam, Sara Walker, Diana Gonyer, Mary Murray and Linda Bullock; for ten years, David Hawlk, Sally Labbay, Donna Bueb, Jill Whittemore, Lisa Boynton-Smith and Mike Morelli; and for five years were Judy Friend, Betty Trudeau, Avaline Boynton, Bev Mitton, Karen Crown, Sherri Bush, Karen Putvain, Belinda Lees, Kris Westhaver, Cindy McKean and Nancy Hartlen.
