LITTLETON – When employees at Littleton Coin Company set a fundraising goal of $1,500 for Tsunami relief, they never dreamed they’d double it. But that’s just what happened when the company matched their contributions, bringing the total amount raised to $3,000!

“Our employees made a tremendous effort, and we were more than happy to support them in this worthy cause,” said Littleton’s chief financial officer Ed Hennessey. “We encourage other companies to do the same.” Employees at the company held a month-long collection drive and a successful bake sale to raise the funds. All proceeds went to the humanitarian organization CARE to aid their five-year rehabilitation of the affected areas.

Monte Allen, Senior Director of CARE Boston, was “touched by the willingness of the employees of Littleton Coin Company to extend a helping hand to people who live half a planet away in their time of need…. These are acts of human solidarity that are very, very gratifying.”

Littleton Coin Company is now one of the nation’s largest buyers and sellers of coins and paper money. Founded in 1945, the company employs more than 330 people and handles nearly 1.5 million pieces of mail annually.
