Littleton Coin Company Receives
a National Patriotic Employer Award

LITTLETON – SPC William Covey, who was deployed to Iraq last February with the New Hampshire Army National Guard, was relieved that his wife Kimberly – left at home in Gilman, Vermont with their four teenagers and concerns about a seriously ill family member – had a supportive employer, Littleton Coin Company. To express his gratitude, he nominated the company and Kimberly’s boss, Rose Crosby, for a national award honoring employers for policies and practices supporting National Guard and Reserve forces.

Representatives from the New Hampshire Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) presented the My Boss Is a Patriot award to the firm on February 1. At a short ceremony attended by the company’s president and officers, Littleton Coin and Crosby, supervisor of Customer Service, were recognized for responding with flexibility and reassurance during trying times for Kimberly, a customer service representative.

Explaining the extent of her employer’s assistance, Kimberly said that Littleton Coin first had given her time off during her father’s recovery from a heart attack.  They did so again before her husband shipped out, and later, during his summer leave. The firm also offered to let her go to a work week of three 10-hour days so that she could spend more time with their children. She eventually switched to this helpful schedule.

Kimberly praised her boss for being behind her all the way. “Rose was very caring and checked on me often,” she said. “She looked at the hindsight before it could become hindsight. For instance, she made sure I did not overextend myself when I offered to do overtime.”

The ESGR Committee is the link between the Department of Defense, the soldier, and his employer. Based in Washington, D.C., with committees in every state, its purpose is to build and maintain relationships between employers and today’s military.

Littleton Coin Company, based in Littleton, New Hampshire, was founded by Maynard Sundman in 1945. Now in its 60th year, it employs over 300 people, providing friendly service to collectors around the globe. Today, the company is one of the largest buyers and sellers of coins and paper money in the world.
