LITTLETON – Employees
at Littleton Coin Company are gearing up to give back
to the community, thanks to the company's new Community
Service Program. Under the program, employees are encouraged
to spend up to 8 hours of paid time each year participating
in community service activities.
As
a company project, Littleton will focus its efforts
on the beautification of the nearby Paul McGoldrick
Bridge and roadside cleanup of Mt. Eustis Road from
the Industrial Park corner to the Lisbon town line.
Planned activities include roadside trash removal,
along with planting flowers and adding holiday decorations.
Employees
may also opt to spend their 8 hours working on a community
service project of their choice, providing it meets
with approval by the company's Community Service Committee.
Among the non-profit groups already benefiting from
the new program are the American Heart Association,
Ammonoosuc Community Health Services, and the Ammonoosuc
Regional Arts Center.
In
a memo announcing the new program, Community Service
Committee members said, "We know some of our employees
are already giving back to their communities in so
many great ways, and Littleton would like to support
these efforts and encourage additional participation."
The
new program officially begins May 1, 2008. However,
it had a successful "trial run" one brisk,
sunny afternoon shortly after Thanksgiving, when nine
employees installed twenty 3-foot Christmas wreaths
on the Paul McGoldrick Bridge.
