America’s Presidential dollar series depicts the U.S. presidents from George Washington to contemporary office holders – with 4 new issues released each year. The common reverse features the revered Statue of Liberty. Struck in a golden alloy, these are the first regular-issue U.S. dollar coins in over 200 years to bear edge lettering. Presidential dollars of 2007-2008 feature edge inscriptions of the mint mark, year of issue, and mottoes E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST. Starting in 2009, IN GOD WE TRUST appears on the obverse, and 13 stars (for the original colonies) have been added to the edge. |
