In great demand by collectors, the unusual Steel cent was only struck in 1943! To save copper for the war, in 1943 all U.S. cents were struck in zinc-coated steel. However, they soon corroded in moist conditions, and many survivors have been reprocessed. But this nice, original Mint State piece appears just as it did when struck over 70 years ago.
