This colorful, Uncirculated 2002 One Dinar Note depicts and is from the reign of one of the world’s most notorious leaders! Muammar Gaddafi led a 1969 military coup which seized control of Libya – located on the Mediterranean Sea to the west of Egypt, and the 4th largest country on the continent of Africa.
For more than 4 decades, the dictator Gaddafi developed a reputation for human rights abuses including the torture and execution of thousands of Libyan citizens. And his support for radical groups in the region created fear he would become the world’s most dangerous terrorist. In February 2011, a rebel uprising supported by NATO began in Libya. And on October 20, 2011, Gaddafi was caught in hiding, and executed by an unknown assassin as he was being taken away by the rebel force.
The back of this colorful note, soon to become obsolete under the new Libyan government, features the beautiful Mawlai Muhammad mosque in Libya’s capital city of Tripoli. Add this historic Uncirculated Gaddafi note to your collection today!
